This question is a great one but a difficult one. I’ve touched on many things that I love before, but picking what I love most is really challenging. But, it’s a problem that I’m lucky to have, as I’m well aware! Here are my thoughts on what I love most about my job as a freelance business writer!

My top job perks as a business content writer

Being a freelancer takes a lot of effort, to be honest with you all. All of the things that you’ve heard about before, like wearing many hats and being on-call, are very true. However, freelancing means that you also work with many different clients, and each project will always be different from the one before. This all takes emotional and mental effort. However, this effort is offset by perks such as:

• I’m always learning about new things: From brand offerings to new product options to random information about a type of service, my head is full of information! As someone who has always enjoyed being a student and learning, this is something that really appeals to me.

• I get to learn how to do my job better: No, seriously! I’m not anywhere near the best writer in the world. Sometimes, I’m not even the best writer for the job. When I get negative reviews, I do deserve them, and I’m proud to have them! One of the things that I truly love about my job is that I learn how to do it better every time. I don’t want to be in a rut where I’m churning out content. I want to understand where I’ve failed and where I’ve succeeded so that I can always constantly learn how to better my craft.

• I love to shop: As a minimalist, this is hard for me to reconcile sometimes. But, I love to shop, and I love to learn about the ins and outs of brands and products, even if I don’t actually buy the item. So, specializing in writing product descriptions helps me fill the love of shopping without compromising my life as a minimalist. Plus, I get to help “the little guy” put out some great content in the crowded world of eCommerce to fight against the wealthier brands. Does it mean that they’ll succeed flawlessly? Sadly, no. But, I can certainly put my skills and passion to work for helping them out as best as I can!

A job that gives me everything that I want

My job can give me everything that I could hope for when looking at a rewarding and sustainable career. It’s a job in which I can do all of the things that I love most and a job where I can see the difference it makes for my customers and the people they interact with.
