These are some details that I kept in mind when I was choosing my own selection of side hustles. Regardless of whether you’re looking for a side hustle in your niche or just something totally different, these tips will help you get just the right fit.

• Check out what others are doing: If you have no idea where to even start, take a look online at what others are doing. This could be others in your freelancing niche. Or it could just be random people on the internet who are sharing their experiences with different types of side hustles. This will help you come up with a shortlist!

• Don’t limit yourself: Dream big when it comes to your side hustle ideas! This could be in what you choose to do (more on the later), or it could be even in how you want to schedule your side hustle. Do you want something with more hours? Pick a side hustle that’s immersive. Are you hunting for something that allows you to meet new people?  Use that as your guide. Don’t put limits on what you’re searching for!

• Don’t let the money lead you: This one is a little controversial. After all, you’re searching because you are looking for the best side hustle for cash flow. But don’t let money be the only thing that guides you. There are the obvious scams many cash-strapped people fall into where you work hard for little payouts, of course. But the other part of it is that you are more than just a worker. You deserve to enjoy the work that you’re doing, don’t you?

A side hustle isn’t a career

For some reason, this often comes across as new information. Even when I was looking at side hustles back in the beginning of the AI craze, I was assuming that I had to go with a side hustle for writers. After all, I am a professional writer, so this made sense. But I ended up going with something totally different because it felt right. Remember that a side hustle doesn’t have to be your new career. It’s just something that you’re doing until things pick up.
